The Year 11 Netball team played against Kingsley on Wednesday 19th January 2022. All the team members played brilliantly from start to finish. After the first quarter the score was level 3-3, both teams demonstrating fantastic attack and defence. In the second quarter Kingsley started to gain on us, however Southam defence worked hard to keep the margin small with the score ending 5-9 to Kingsley. In the third quarter the pressure was felt. Southam fought hard throughout, getting the ball into the shooting circle several times but unfortunately the Kingsley defence was just one step ahead and made some amazing interceptions. The score finished 9-16 to Kingsley, they had really pulled away from us in this quarter and Southam had a lot of work to do in the final 10 minutes. In the last quarter the girls demonstrated super teamwork and lots of resilience, trying as hard as they could to score more goals and keeping Kingsley’s score line tight. Final score 11-18 to Kingsley.
Attack (Abbie, Marie and Millie) dodged and drove forward into space throughout the game, they worked ball around the court and into the shooters (Holly and Ruby). The shooters supported each other to outwit defence and scored accurately under pressure. Defence (Millie, Bella, Hattie, Molly and Rosie) worked hard, marking tight, and forcing the Kingsley attack to make errors from the pressure they created. The team played superbly, encouraging, and praising each other throughout the game. Well done!
‘Well done to all the girls who played, thank you for all your hard work, commitment and continued effort. I am so proud of you all! Miss Evans.’
