Year 11 sink Myton with super 6

After continued hard training this fantastic bunch of lads wanted to go 1 better than their 2nd place in the Rugby tournament, on a cold windswept day away at Myton Road. After a rush of 3 early chances including hitting the bar. Southam settled into a controlling game but just couldn’t finish. It was only inevitable that Myton would go ahead with a late run off a corner not bricked up. With 5 mins to go until half time Jamie A shot on target was deflected in. No more than the boys deserved.

With instructions to take a little pace off the ball on feeding the ball through, Southam’s movement and touch began to tell. A great 3 man press on the Myton back four saw Sam H calmly slot it the ball away 2 – 1. Callum S was next to score with a ball over the shoulder, a twist and turn on the volley great finish in the box. Charlie A followed up a cracking free kick from James P. 4-1 and cruising. Cameron B got his reward for hard work with a 25yd low driven shot to the corner. The champagne moment was Zsombor T. After a shocking challenge on Jamie A. the stalwart of the teams back line coolly scored. 6-1 (3 times hitting the woodwork as well!!)There have been well over 20 lads training every week and their hard work has paid off. The whole squad including those not selected take man of the match. Top performance. It just shows what happens when you stick together.

A very proud Mr Elkerton
