Year 11 Rugby

Saturday saw the year 11 rugby team (supported by some year 10 students) play a home fixture vs Fairfax School.
It was a balanced start with both teams looking to suss each other out with both defences coming out on top aided by handling errors from both teams.

Unfortunately, Fairfax opened the scoring after 15 minutes after a period of sustained pressure and then followed this up with a score shortly after to take a 14-0 lead into the half time break.
The second half started in a similar fashion to the first but Fairfax scored a further 3 tries to take a 33-0 win. Despite the scores, the Southam players continued to hit tackles and rucks and play a positive brand of rugby.

A stand out performance from Tom H awards him the man of the match for a number of powerful tackles, impressive tackling at the ruck and some driving runs at the Fairfax defence.
Despite the score line I am incredibly proud of the team. To get a full squad of 22 players out on a cold Saturday morning in November shows their dedication.
As always, thank you to all the parents for coming to watch and Miss Mason for being the photographer!
