On Wednesday the 6th November two Southam College Netball teams played at the County Netball Tournament, which took place at Kingsley Playing fields in extremely wet and cold conditions.
Both teams played in separate pools and were absolutely AMAZING despite the awful playing conditions. The first school Southam College played was Kenilworth; both games were brilliant, with one of teams achieving a win of 3-2. Unfortunately the other team lost out with the final score ending, Kenilworth 5 Southam College 0. The second school who they played was NLS, again the students played brilliantly with one team managing a huge win of 7-0. The third match of the tournament one team played Aylesford and beat them 8-0 whilst the other team played Myton school which finished closely as Southam just missed a win by one goal, final score 1-2 to Myton. The fourth and final match for one of the teams was against Kingsley, this match was fantastic, at one point Kingsley were stretching their lead but with great skill and determination Southam fought back to nearly catch up, final score 6-8. The other team played Campion school, final score 0-6.
Despite not achieving a win overall for either team the students should be immensely proud of their performance. Ellie Miller and Eve Roddis were nominated by the other teams as ‘Players Player’ for their stand out effort and netball excellence. Throughout the whole tournament there was a huge amount of skill; teamwork; encouragement; support; resilience and determination shown by all those who played. Well done to every single one of you and thank you for taking the time and commitment to represent Southam College at this event, I am certainly very proud of you all, Miss Evans.
