Due to the marvellous amount of students who turn up to Rounders after school on a Thursday we entered two teams into the County Warwickshire Rounders Tournament. This took place on Thursday 20th June 2019 at Myton school. Each team were in separate pools; playing against teams of all different abilities. In Pool A Southam team 1 played Kenilworth; Campion and Myton Team 2. The girls achieved one win and two unfortunate losses, only losing by half a rounder! In Pool B Southam 2 played some very strong teams including Myton team 1; Kingsley; Aylesford and NLS. As a result of this tough group Southam did not manage to get a win.
Despite not making the semi-finals the girls involved from both teams played brilliantly; they worked hard as a team, showing support and encouragement. There was a huge amount of resilience and determination as the girls never gave up even if they were losing. There was some fantastic elements of Rounders but unfortunately it was not quite enough against the other teams.
“I would like to thank you all for trying your best and giving up your evening to represent Southam College. Thank you to the two Captains, Marie Green and Charlotte Everest for carrying out their role with true professionalism and excellence. Finally thank you to Miss Jones for giving up her time to help out; coaching; umpiring and supporting the students. We have some work to do next year but I am feeling very positive and look forward to seeing you all improve even more than you have done so already this year. I am so very proud of you all. Miss Evans”
