Courageous Callum Crunches Camp!
Southam 45 Camp Hill 0
Remembrance Day was marked by a fitting one minute silence and a memorable performance from talented Fly Half Callum Stewart. It was the highlight of a delightful morning’s rugby at Sutton Coldfield. Callum brilliantly closed down the opposition’s backs and was relentless with his outstanding tackling. His strong running also brought him a fine try.
Captain Brendan Simms had two tries in the first five minutes and went on to complete a fine hat-trick in a stunning performance. Fellow centre Logan Morrison was also in top form in attack and defence. He scored one and set up Cole Crowther to smartly score in the corner on his debut. It was a day for debutants, with Max Fraser-Pope showing his strength in the forwards and rapid winger Max Shirley giving glimpses of his immense potential. Zsombor Toth added further power to the pack with several mighty charges. The commitment of Toby Chambers was rewarded with his first appearance at Scrum Half. There was also more game time for the promising Dan Patten and Will Hookey.
The forwards did their job superbly providing the excellent Reni Bulyka and his backs with plenty of ball. They scored two tries from powerhouse prop Ashley Barnett and Rory Spencer who goes from strength to strength. They were well supported by Tom Werren, Cameron Ounsworth, Ben Davies and Oli Kitson.
Classy winger James Pelter glided to the line to complete the scoring.  The agility of Paul Hickey and the versatility of Cameron Black deserve a particular mention.
A couple of challenging fixtures await in the next few weeks, so training will be important to maximise the huge potential of this exciting team!
